Hello!
I’m Bruce Bowers, president of GRIPWET, Inc.,
a small yet diverse Maine company that addresses conditions that exacerbate
the potential for slip-and-fall accidents.
In
the four decades since I owned my first company (we applied “non-slip”
seal-coat to asphalt driveways) I observed my own family struggle with
injuries, slips, and falls.
What
I have learned:
- Among
older adults, the majority of fractures are caused by falls (Bell 2000).
- Among
fall victims 65 and older, 20% to 30% suffer moderate to severe injuries
such as hip fractures or head traumas that reduce mobility and independence,
and increase the risk of premature death (Sterling 2001).
Increasingly
it is my opinion that most accidents are preventable. I will
personally consult with you and see that our trained technicians dramatically
increase the slip resistance of your existing dangerous standing, walking,
or working surfaces.
